The Centre for Accessibility in the Global South (CAGS), IIIT Bangalore, in collaboration with the Global Disability Innovation (GDI) Hub at UCL, is researching the use of Android phones as assistive technology among people with disabilities in India. They aim to understand its impact on various aspects of their lives and explore ways to enhance digital skills and accessibility.

Educational Intervention Programme

Digital Literacy

Digital literacy is an educational intervention programme of Vision Empower implemented in collaboration with CAGS to design an accessible Digital Literacy course for students with visual impairment. The programme aims to enable students with visual impairment to learn the usage of computers which is an integral part of STEM education.

A multi-modal approach for early learning for the visually impaired

SEEDS - Scalable Early Education with Digital Scaffolding

SEEDS is an educational intervention programme of CAGS implemented in collaboration with Microsoft Research and Vision Empower with the objective of creating a technology- enabled input-rich learning ecosystem for visually impaired children and teachers. The project will aim to deliver content through an interactive voice response system for children and teachers and support them in becoming independent learners through access to quality content.
