Monnie Parida

Postdoctoral Researcher
Monnie Parida is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the CAGS, IIIT Bangalore. She has submitted her thesis for her PhD at IIT Kharagpur and has previously worked at Infosys. Her research interests span a wide range of areas, including Accessible Computing, Inclusive Design, Assistive Technologies, Computational Linguistics, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Neuroscience, Machine Learning, Language Comprehension, and Disability Innovation, with a strong focus on Visual Disabilities and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
She has contributed to the development of a multimodal Android and web application that transliterates five Indian languages into their respective Braille scripts, creating accessible educational tools for students with visual impairments. This work addressed the transition of special education to online learning during the global pandemic. Additionally, a comprehensive investigation conducted by her into the challenges faced by people with disabilities during the pandemic, culminating in a published journal article detailing her findings and insights.
Her ongoing research focuses on leveraging AI for social good, particularly in creating technologies that tackle the global challenges faced by students with visual disabilities. She is committed to expanding her expertise in Generative AI to drive innovation in assistive technology and accessible computing.
